Egyptian Amulet

These amulets, often in the form of a scarab beetle, were left in tombs as grave goods or given to people and the gods as presents. The Scarab, or 'Kheper' (which means "to transform"), was used in many of the pharaonic names. Pharaoh Amenhotep III was famous for his group of '5 scarabs'. This particular amulet is made from fired clay.
